- To provide a cultural connection and identity for all children of Yoruba heritage and other children that may like to explore the Yoruba ways of life
- To create a network for rendering reasonable and acceptable assistance to members in need
- To Cherish, Uphold and project the honor and dignity of Yoruba Culture, language and tradition in Africa and diaspora
Our Programs
Monthly General Meetings: The foundation meets at the Nigeria House on the first Sunday of every month at 4.00pm to discuss and make decisions on issues about the foundation, members and the community at large.
Yoruba Day Celebrations: The foundation organizes and celebrates a bi-annual event tagged “Yoruba Day” in the summer month of June. The purpose of "Yoruba day" is to showcase Yoruba culture, tradition and to raise funds for the Yoruba Language School, as well as other projects geared towards the uplifting of the foundation in general.
End of Year Party: The Foundation celebrates its end of year party every year in December. It’s a time when members and their families get together with their families to socialize together with good food, music and networking.
Ongoing Projects
Yoruba Language School Project: This project is part of the Foundation’s contribution to the promotion of multiculturalism in Canada vis- a- vis the preservation of the Yoruba language and culture. The Yoruba Language School started in 2006 as a volunteer based institution for educating children and interested Canadians in the exceedingly rich Yoruba culture and language.
Opportunities Forum & Seminar: Every now and then, the foundation holds an opportunity/networking forum where we gather new information to better equip us in this environment.
The purposes of this project are:
- To create a forum for providing resource and information assistance to new immigrants as well as community members in job transition
- To create a forum for business and investment education
- To create a forum for networking with members and the larger Calgary business community
